Clearlac products are water based cathodic electrophoretic lacquers which when applied to metal or metal coatings, produce a clear protective coating. The processes are used to deposit a range of film thicknesses.
Such processes can be used at the end of the normal plating cycle without any alterations to the existing plating cycle. The work is transferred directly from the final electroplating stage through rinses into the Clearlac working solution without the need for an intermediate drying stage.
Clearlac products are very stable both as concentrates and in the working solution therefore the usual problems associated with instability are avoided.
The Clearlac product concentrates can be used both to make up and maintain the bath solution. There is no requirement for another product for maintenance except to make up the solvent losses due to evaporation and drag out.
Coloured lacquer films can be produced either by adding the dye to the Clearlac working solutions or by dipping the clear lacquered articles in to a post dip dye solution prior to curing.
The gloss and image clarity of the lacquer films from Clearlac processes range from very good to excellent with high hardness.
